Nigeria’s 2018 Budget To Be Signed Into Law Next Week

President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, has said Buhari will sign the 2018 budget into the law by next week.

This he said to state house correspondents yesterday after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.

Adesina , however, did not specify the date.

The budget will be signed next week,” he told journalists, adding: “We will give you the specific date when it is confirmed.”

Yesterday (Wednessday) makes it one month the national assembly passed the N9.1 trillion appropriation bill.

Buhari had sent a N8.6 trillion budget to the lawmakers, but the lawmakers added to the budget by N500 billion. They also increased oil benchmark from $45 to $51 per barrel.

Meanwhile, Naija News gathered that the budget was not signed on Wednesday as widely expected as both Senate President Bukola Saraki and House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara were out of the country.

Saraki is on lesser pilgrimage while Dogara is said to be on an excecutive course outside the country, but both leaders are expected to be back in Nigeria by next week for the signing of the bill.
