Thomas Tuchel Becomes Bayern Munich Manager

The former manager of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel has been named the head coach of German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Thursday night, March 23, 2023.

Thomas Tuchel replaces Julian Nagelsmann who was reportedly fired minutes before the news went viral that Tuchel has been named Bayern’s new manager.

According to Italian transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, Tuchel and Bayern Munich have reached a “full agreement” and the German tactician has accepted the appointment.

“Contract agreed, documents are being prepared tonight”, Fabrizio tweeted at about 10:00 PM (WAT).

Details about the contract terms, length, and targets are yet to be made public and the club is yet to make an official announcement as at the time of filling in this report.

Nagelsmann’s dismissal came days after he led Bayern Munich to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Leverkusen. The defeat came the same day their major title contenders, Borussia Dortmund defeated Koln 6-1.

Hence, Bayern Munich went into the March international break sitting in the second spot with 52 points in 25 games, a point behind first-placed Dortmund.

All things being equal, Thomas Tuchel who made his name in Europe as an elite manager while at PSG before winning the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup at Chelsea, would lead Bayern Munich into the Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City.

Bayern will play the first leg against City at the Etihad on April 11 and the second leg will take place in Germany on April 19. If the German side manage to scale through, they will meet Real Madrid or Chelsea in the semi-finals.
