Angry Chelsea fans chanted for the return of the immediate past coach of the club, Thomas Tuchel as Manchester City knocked them out of the FA Cup.

Chelsea suffered their fifth loss in seven games on Sunday night after Manchester City thrashed them 4-0 in the FA Cup third round.

After Chelsea went 3-0 down in the first 40 minutes, some of the 8,000 away fans turned against the club’s ownership and manager Graham Potter.

From the Manchester stands, it was audible that the visiting supporters were chanting, “We’ve got Tommy Tuchel.” Due to the club’s woeful performance, the former owner Roman Abramovich’s name was also loudly chanted in the away end.

As Chelsea struggled to make headway against a strong City team, there were sarcastic cries of “we’ve had a shot” following a rare attempt on goal.

After winning five straight games to start October, Potter’s tenure looked promising, but after Chelsea’s 4-1 loss against his old team Brighton three months ago, things have drastically declined.

Some supporters have been reminded of his predecessor, who won both the Club World Cup and the Champions League during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

With goals from Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, and a brace from Riyad Mahrez on Sunday, Potter’s team was eliminated from the FA Cup.

With just two victories in their previous nine games played in all competitions, Potter’s team has fallen to 10th place in the Premier League.

Potter, who took over in September after Tuchel was fired, acknowledged that he understands the frustration of Chelsea’s supporters.

He said: ‘Clearly we are suffering and it’s not nice at all,’ Potter said. ‘We can’t do anything other than do our jobs better and work harder.

‘You can understand the fans’ frustration and we respect that. There are always other opinions and criticism because the results haven’t been positive.

‘We’re going through a bad moment and sometimes when you have them you need something to blame. We have to stick together and keep working.’
