Nigerians React As Bashir Claims Bill Gates Called Buhari

A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted a statement by Bashir Ahmad saying that the world’s second richest man, Bill Gates, called
President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News had reported earlier that Bashir, a Personal Assistant to the President on New, made the claim on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Bashir had said that the multi-billionaire called his principal on Wednesday to congratulate him on the 2019 presidential election victory and also discussed on matters of national relevance.

“one of the world’s richest men, Bill Gates called President Buhari to congratulate him on his resounding election victory, winning a second four-year term of office,” Bashir had tweeted.

However, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said Buhari phoned Gates to commend him for his consistent and generous support to public causes around the globe.

Shehu said in the statement that the president, in a telephone conversation with Gates, specifically lauded him for supporting the eradication of polio and HIV diseases in Africa and Nigeria in particular.

Apparently displeased with Ahmad’s claims, Nigerians took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to berate the Presidential media aide.
