President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi, as new Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), with effect from September 14th.

According to the statement, made available to Naija News by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Bichi is a core secret service operative.

Army Neutralise 10 Bandits, Arrest Kidnapper In Kaduna

10 suspected armed bandits have been killed, while one kidnapper has been apprehended by the 1 Division Nigeria Army Kaduna in Chikun and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

Col. Muhammad Dole, the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, made this development known to newsmen in Kaduna.

The Nigeria Labour Congress  Says It has rejected the plan by former National chairman of the Labour Party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam to adopt Olusegun Mimiko as the party’s Presidential torchbearer for the 2019 general elections.

Absence of Prosecuting Witness Halts Evans’ Trial

The absence of a prosecuting witness has instigated the adjournment for further hearing in the trial of suspected ‘billionaire’ kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans by a Lagos High Court in Igbosere.

The Judge, Justice Adedayo Akintoye had adjourned the date to Friday, following the promise by Adebayo Haroun, the persecuting counsel that the witness, a Police Inspector, would be in court to testify Friday.

Army Repels Boko Haram Attack in Damasak

The Nigeria Military has said that it killed many Boko Haram fighters in Damasak on Thursday.

According to the Spokesperson of the Army, Brig. Texas Chukwu, the insurgents who attacked a military formation in the area at 6pm were repelled by the superior firepower of Nigerian soldiers.
