Bayern Munich Complete £55m Move For Nathaniel Brown
Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Germany international Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the 23-year-old left-back agreeing a contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga champions until June 30, 2031.
The deal is reported to be worth €55 million, making Nathaniel Brown Bayern’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of midfielder Sacha Bari for the same fee.
Brown arrives after an outstanding campaign with Frankfurt, where he made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists. He also featured in all but one of the club’s 34 Bundesliga matches last season.
The defender enjoyed a breakthrough on the international stage, cementing his place in Germany’s starting side after making his senior debut in October. At the recent World Cup, he started three matches and contributed a goal and an assist against Costa Rica.
He had earlier scored once and set up another in Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curacao. Germany’s campaign ended in the Round of 16 following a defeat to Paraguay.
Speaking after sealing the move, Brown described Bayern as the perfect place to continue his development.
“One of the best clubs in the world,” Brown said.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level; I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of myself every day.”
Brown also revealed that discussions with head coach Vincent Kompany played a major role in his decision to join the Bavarian giants.
Sporting director Max Eberl welcomed the signing and highlighted the defender’s long-term potential.
Brown’s “rapid development” has been impressive, Eberl said, adding that the full-back “still has so much potential and is one for the future”.
The Germany international is expected to compete with Alphonso Davies for the left-back position as Bayern prepare to defend their Bundesliga crown after winning both the league and German Cup last season while reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Brown joined Frankfurt from Nuremberg in 2024 for just €3 million, making his rise one of the Bundesliga’s standout success stories. Eligible to represent the United States through his father, he has instead established himself as a regular for Germany.
Naija News reports that Nathaniel Brown’s arrival follows Bayern’s announcement earlier this week that Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari had also joined the club after impressing at the World Cup.
