Super Falcons’ UK Tour Cancelled After Jamaica Pull Out Of Friendly

Plans for the Super Falcons of Nigeria to hold a training tour of the United Kingdom this month have collapsed after Jamaica withdrew from a scheduled international friendly.

Naija News reports that the trip, originally fixed for May 23 to 28, was designed as a key step in the Super Falcons’ build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The friendly against the Reggae Girlz was expected to provide vital match fitness and tactical testing for the reigning African champions.

According to Savid News via Daily Post, the match was cancelled because of administrative issues faced by the Jamaican side, forcing organisers to scrap the entire tour.

The development continues a frustrating run of disrupted fixtures for the Super Falcons. Naija News reports that Cape Verde withdrew from a planned double-header friendly in April, leaving the Falcons without competitive action during the previous international window.

With the latest setback confirmed, Nigeria will now wait for the next women’s international window sanctioned by FIFA in June to secure fresh opposition.

Head coach Justine Madugu and his squad were last in action in March, when they produced an impressive 3-1 away win over the Indomitable Lionesses in Yaounde.

The Super Falcons are preparing to defend their crown at the 2026 WAFCON finals, set to take place in Morocco in July. The tournament will also serve as a qualification route for the forthcoming 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
