Jurgen Klopp Gives Excuses After Liverpool Loss To Brentford

The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has admitted that football is crazy while commenting on the fact that Premier League clubs have sacked a record 12 managers in the 2022-2023 season alone.

Jurgen Klopp whose team suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday, said Liverpool has not added him to the list of sacked managers this season due to his past achievements at the club.

Note that Jurgen Klopp has led Liverpool to an unprecedented 9 league defeats, 6 draws, and just 12 wins in 27 games so far this season. These horrible stats have forced Liverpool down to the 8th spot, 8 points away from fourth-placed Newcastle United.

As it stands, Klopp must defeat Chelsea on Tuesday (kick-off time 20:00) to stand a chance of qualifying for next season’s European football and probably keep his job a little longer.

Note that Klopp has helped Liverpool to win a Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup, since he became the club’s manager in 2015. But this season has been the worst for him and the Merseyside club.

“If it was my first season it would be slightly different,” Jurgen Klopp said on Monday.

“I’m aware of the fact that I’m sitting here because of the past, not because of what we did this season.”

He added, “We have smart owners, they know about the situation.

“There is no need [for me] to be afraid, I am here to deliver, I’m not here as a talisman or for murals on house walls.

“I know I’m still here because of what happened in the last few years.

“I don’t like the fact that I pretty much have to rely on that. Is it right or not? We’ll see in the future.”

On the fact that Tottenham Hotspur sacked Antonio Conte, Leicester City sacked Brendan Rodgers, and Chelsea sacked Graham Potter in the last seven days, Klopp said, “I think probably the elephant in the room, from your point of view, is why I am still sitting here, in this crazy world.

“It’s a strange week. The season gets into a decisive part and people are afraid of maybe not reaching their targets.

“But I would say for all four their football managing future is still bright so it’s not a disaster. It’s a situation they probably don’t like but it’s part of the business.”
