'We Have Been Abadoned' - Parents Of Abducted Greenfield Varsity Students

The identity of one of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna State, who were killed by the bandits on Monday has been revealed.

One of the students newly killed by bandits on Monday has been identified as Saheed Abdulrahman.

Abdulrahman, who hails from Kaduna state, was the fourth slain student out of five to be identified so far.

The others are Dorathy Tirnom Yohanna, Sadiq Yusuf Sanga, and Precious Nwakacha.

Meanwhile, the funeral date for 23-year-old Dorathy Yohanna, a 300 level student has been announced.

According to the family of the deceased, she will be buried on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

A video has surfaced online in which Abdulrahman recited the Holy Quran before he was abducted on 20 April by the terrorists.

Naija News reports that the bandits had threatened to kill the remaining 15 students until Governor Nasir El-Rufai paid their non-negotiable N800m ransom.

Recall that the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the remains of the three students were found at Kwanar Bature village, a location close to the university, on Friday.

The commission said the bodies were taken to a mortuary by him and the Commander Operation Thunder Strike.

He added that at least 17 of the students abducted by the terrorists are still being held, along with two female staff of the private university.

He added that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has described the killing of three students as sheer wickedness, inhumanity, and an outright desecration of human lives by vile entities.

Aruwan said the governor, on behalf of the Government and the people of Kaduna state, sent deep condolences and empathy to the families of the students and the university community, as he prayed for the repose of their souls.

The commissioner added that the state government will keep citizens informed of further developments.

“In an act of mindless evil and sheer wickedness, the armed bandits who kidnapped students of Greenfield University, have shot dead three of the abducted students.”

“The armed bandits on Tuesday night kidnapped an unspecified number of students at the institution located at Kasarami village off Kaduna-Abuja Road in Chikun LGA.”

“The remains of three students were found today (Friday), in Kwanan Bature village, a location close to the university and have been evacuated to a mortuary by the Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, and Force Commander, Operation Thunder Strike, Lt. Col. MH Abdullahi.”

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai has condemned the killing of three students as sheer wickedness, inhumanity and an outright desecration of human lives by vile entities. He went on to say that the armed bandits represent the worst of humankind and must be fought at all cost for the violent wickedness they represent.”

“Evil, the Governor further said, would not triumph over God-given humanity. He appealed to citizens to come together against the forces of darkness challenging national security and the very existence of the Nigerian State.”

“The Governor, on behalf of the Government and people of Kaduna State sent deep condolences and empathy to the student’s families and the university community, as he prayed for the repose of their souls.”

“The Government will keep citizens informed of further developments,” the statement read.
