The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has filed a defence in respect of its victory in the just concluded 2019 governorship election in the state at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Emmanuel Jime, and the party had filed a petition against the victory of the PDP candidate, Samuel Ortom, in the just-concluded election.
Naija News also learnt that the APC governorship candidate’s petition has the Independent National Electoral Commission, Ortom and the PDP as the first, second and third defendants respectively.
Counsel for the party, C. T. Mue, who filed the defence at the tribunal, expressed optimism that his client’s victory at the governorship election would be upheld.
The PDP legal team is headed by Chris Uche (SAN).
