1. Senate Proceeds On Break, To Pass 2019 Budget After Easter

The Appropriation Committees in both chambers of the National Assembly on Wednesday laid the 2019 Appropriation bill in the Senate and House of Representatives.

The Committees submitted a harmonized budget report for consideration and adoption.

2. Kadaria Threatens Fresh Protest Over Zamfara Killings

Nigerian media personality, Kadaria Ahmed has promised to go to the streets in protest once again if the killings in Zamfara State continues.

Speaking on a TV interview on Wednesday, Kadaria said it is her job as a citizen to hold the government accountable.

3. APC Lawmaker Resigns Position, Gives Reason

One of the suspended lawmakers in Benue State House of Assembly, former Majority Leader Mr Benjamin Adanyi (Makurdi South-APC) has resigned.

4. Federal Government Declares Easter Break

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22, as break to mark the 2019 Easter celebration.

Naija News reports that the federal government through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, in a statement quoting the minister of Interior, Lt.- Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the announcement on Wednesday in Abuja.

5. Nigerian Senate Passes Police Reform Bill

The Nigerian Senate has on Wednesday, passed the police reform bill.

The bill, aimed at improving policing standards in the country, will now be transmitted to the House of Representative for concurrence.

6. Ekiti: Supreme Court Delivers Judgement On Fayemi’s Election

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday upheld the governorship election of Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.

In a unanimous judgment by a five-man panel, the apex court held that the appeal by Segun Oni was statute barred.

7. Biafra: IPOB Issues Strong Warning To Buhari’s Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari of using the Police against its members.

IPOB in a statement on Wednesday, said Kyari was using unsubstantiated allegations against its members to divert attention from genuine national issues been raised by the group.

8. Lawmaker Snubs APC’s Endorsement Of Gbajabiamila, Declares ‎For Speaker

A member of the House of Representatives from Benue. Hon. John Dyegh, has declared his ambition to run for the speakership seat in the 9th National Assembly.

The is coming hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) zoned the seat to the South-West and endorsed the Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, as its candidate.

9. House Of Reps Tell FG What To Do About Chibok Girls, Leah Sharibu

The Federal Government has been urged to redouble its efforts towards ensuring that the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram are released.

The appeal was made by the House of Representatives, who also urged the government to do everything within its power to free Leah Sharibu and others from their abductors.

10. Sudan: Ousted President Bashir Transferred To Khartoum Prison

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has been transferred overnight to a Khartoum prison, a relative of the former head of state, who was overthrown by the army on April 11 under pressure from the street, said Wednesday.

“Bashir was transferred last night to Kober prison in Khartoum,” said the family member, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons.
