Oshiomhole Speaks On Shekarau’s Defection To APC

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, on Friday, welcomed the former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, to the party.

The former minister under the former President Goodluck Jonathan, will formally join the APC today.

In his remarks at the home of Shekarau, Oshiomhole said, “I am fully aware that you were part of the founding fathers of the APC and they say ‘Na condition make crayfish bend.’ We know that you would not have exhausted the amount of efforts you injected in the formation of the All Progressives Congress.”

He stressed that going forward, the real progressives would reunite after those he called conservatives would have left.

He further stated that the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, work hand in hand with Shekarau.

“Together, we have found a reliable and genuine progressive for the advancement of not only our party but to contribute ideas for the progress and development of our great country,” Oshiomhole said.

Ganduje, while speaking stated that he and Shekarau were both democrats who shared the same principles and ideology, which he stated had sustained their cordial relationship.

He promised that the state government would work with Shekarau to take the state to greater heights of economic growth and development.

Sheharau, while speaking about recent developments in the state, said history was about repeating itself and any history of APC will not be complete without him.

“I have interacted peacefully as part of culture and tradition that I will remain peaceful with every person, regardless of their political opinion,” he added.
