Oshiomole Unchallenged In APC National Chairmanship Race

The coast appears clear for former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomole, to emerge as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

This followed the decision of a former Cross River State governor, Clement Ebiri, to withdraw from the race.

Naija News earlier reported the withdrawal of Prof. Osunbor from the race as well.

A statement signed by Ebiri, which was issued to newsmen on Thursday, revealed the decision of the last standing challenger to withdraw from the race.

Ebri’s statement reads: “Following deep consultations with my family, friends and associates, party leaders and stakeholders in the progress of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy from the race for the National Chairmanship of the APC.

“This decision has been taken in what I consider to be the overall best interest of the party and my belief that all stakeholders must row in the same rancour-free direction as we approach general elections in a few months.”

The APC national convention is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 23rd June, where about 6,800 delegates are expected.
