Buhari Is Currently Flying A Small Plane As His Big Plane Is Faulty – Presidency

Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity says the small plane used to carry President Muhammadu Buhari limits the distance he can travel at a stretch.

This he said while making attempts to clarify the president’s “technical stopover” in London which has began to raise questions from Nigerians.

He said the “big” president jet is faulty and is currently undergoing repairs, while the one he is using is limited in capacity.

The big jet is under repairs. It has been taken for major repairs. So the president is using a small plane and there is a limit to the distance the small plane can cover,” he said.

“So the technical stopover I talked about is that the journey from US to Abuja is broken into two. Technical stopover is that the plane stops at a point, refuel, do some checks and then proceed on the journey.

“It is a routine thing. The plane can do Abuja-Washington, that’s about 12 hours and the maximum the plane can fly is 12 hours, 40 minutes. But you don’t need to push it to the edge. This is very normal. There is nothing unusual about it. In any case, they are already on their way back home.”

The President, after concluding his visit to the US, was expected to return to Nigeria on Wednesday, but as reported by Naija News, the president only arrived the shores of Nigeria around 10:30pm Thursday evening.
