Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the people of Rivers State will not support the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, in the 2027 election.
Naija News reports that Wike made this statement on Thursday during his monthly media chat in Abuja.
Wike accused Amaechi of taking ₦14 billion of Rivers State funds for fumigation.
According to Wike, the people of Rivers State know Amaechi’s ambition is dead on arrival, and they will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
He said, “Rivers people will not support Amaechi, who took 14 billion naira of Rivers money for fumigation. It will be difficult to convince Rivers people not to support President Bola Tinubu. Rivers People know that Amaechi’s political ambition is dead on arrival.”
Meanwhile, Wike recently slammed politicians criticising his Rainbow Coalition.
He described his critics as greedy and selfish individuals, arguing that they do not understand the meaning of unity.
He stated that the politicians keep questioning the coalition but lack the capacity to unite even their own families and communities.
Wike made the remarks in Abuja during the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre and an interactive session with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gwagwalada Area Council.
The minister described the Rainbow Coalition, which comprises political stakeholders from both parties, as an alliance established to promote unity, cooperation and development in the FCT.
