Casemiro Reveals Why He Is Leaving Manchester United
Casemiro has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on four years at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian midfielder, who joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, said the decision was driven by a desire for a “new chapter” rather than any loss of affection for the club
Speaking in a video released by United on Thursday, Casemiro, 33, said: “Manchester United holds a special place in my heart. I’ll always carry this club with me for the rest of my life.
“I’ll always be a Manchester United fan, my whole family, too. It is not a goodbye, it’s just a new chapter in my life, I’ll always be with Manchester United.”
Casemiro’s contract expires in June and, after months of speculation, the midfielder chose to address his future early to avoid a drawn-out saga. He had considered leaving in 2025 but ultimately stayed on, adding another chapter to what has been an eventful United career.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Casemiro has made 146 appearances and scored 21 goals, often delivering in decisive moments. He played a pivotal role in United’s 2023 Carabao Cup triumph, scoring in the final against Newcastle United, and lifted the Emirates FA Cup in 2024. His combative edge, positional discipline and knack for important goals quickly made him a fan favourite.
Supporters will have a chance to pay tribute to United’s final home game of the campaign against Nottingham Forest. Until then, Casemiro insists his focus remains firmly on the pitch.
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” he said. “From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club. It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.
“We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my all to help our club succeed.”
