Photos: Anthony Joshua Returns To Training Weeks After Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has returned to gym training less than three weeks after surviving a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Naija News reports that the crash occurred on December 29 along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua and members of his team rammed into a stationary truck parked on the shoulder of the road.

Joshua sustained minor injuries in the accident, while his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, died at the scene.

The 36-year-old boxer received medical treatment in Nigeria before being discharged. He later returned to the United Kingdom alongside the remains of his late friends and attended their funeral prayers at a mosque in London.

On Thursday, Joshua shared images and videos of himself back in the gym, marking his first public training session since the incident.

In one sparring clip posted on social media, the former two-time world champion captioned the session, “Mental strength therapy.”

The footage showed Joshua engaging in light sparring before progressing to strength training, spinning exercises and swimming as part of his recovery routine.

Joshua has largely remained silent since the accident, apart from paying tribute to his late associates, describing the period as emotionally challenging.

His return to training signals a gradual step back toward normalcy, though there has been no official confirmation on when he plans to resume competitive boxing.
