NPFL Matchday 6 Results: 3SC Fight Back To Sink Warri Wolves As Nasarawa United Go Top

Former Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) champions Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) showed character on Sunday as they came from behind to beat Warri Wolves 2-1 in a match-day six fixture played in Ozoro.

The Oluyole Warriors looked destined for defeat after Igbunu Evwierhurhoma put the Wolves ahead in the 54th minute. But just when it seemed the points would slip away, Qamar Adegoke struck in the 84th minute to level the contest, before Adams Mustapha sealed the comeback two minutes later with a composed finish.

The victory marks 3SC’s second straight NPFL win of the season following their triumph over newcomers Kun Khalifat last week. With back-to-back victories, the Ibadan-based side have climbed to sixth on the log with eight points from six matches.

In Aba, it was heartbreak for Kun Khalifat, who fell 3-1 at home to fellow newcomers Barau FC. Ebuka Nwokorie gave Khalifat an early lead in the 14th minute, but Yahaya Ibrahim equalised almost immediately. Hillary Ekawu’s strike midway through the second half turned the game around before Ibrahim completed his brace late on, sealing Barau’s first win of the season.

At the top of the table, Nasarawa United continued their strong start with a 2-0 victory over Katsina United. Last season’s top scorer, Anas Yusuf, opened the scoring just before halftime, and Abubakar Abdullahi added a second in the 73rd minute to keep the Solid Miners in first place with 13 points.

Naija News reports that Ikorodu City held Enyimba to a 1-1 draw in Lagos on Sunday, keeping the People’s Elephant one point adrift of the leaders.

Meanwhile, Rangers International’s struggles persisted after a 2-2 draw with Wikki Tourists in Bauchi. The result keeps the Flying Antelopes in the relegation zone with only five points from five matches.

Also, Kun Khalifat remain bottom after four defeats in their first six games, alongside Kano Pillars, Barau FC, and Rangers in the early relegation fight.
