The English FA has overturned the red card slammed on Liverpool’s new signing, Alexis Mac Allister after a series of criticism.

Naija News has reported that Liverpool would appeal against the red card given to Alexis Mac Allister during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

Recall that referee Thomas Brammall gave Mac Allister a straight red card after he tackled Ryan Christie.

The World Cup winner was banned for three games which would have forced him to miss Liverpool’s forthcoming three matches against Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Wolves.

Immediately after the game, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher argued that Mac Allister does not deserve to be red-carded in the game.

Also, in the post-game interview, Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp argued that “everything was lacking for a red card” against Alexis Mac Allister.

Also, Match of the Day host Gary Lineker described Mac Allister’s red card as “nonsense” via social media.

Hence, after Liverpool appealed against the referee’s decision to send off Mac Allister over what is deemed as an unintentional tackle on Bournemouth’s Christie, the FA agreed with all the critics of the decision.

A statement from the English FA earlier today, August 22, reads, “An independent regulatory commission has removed Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal”.

This means that the 24-year-old Argentine midfielder is expected to be available for Liverpool when the club visit St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on Sunday, August 27.
