Salah Brace Against Tottenham Secures Away Victory For Liverpool

Mohamed Salah’s first-half strike hands Liverpool their first away win in the Premier League this season.

Even though the match was essentially a hard-fought victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men, Liverpool’s faltering season got back on track with the midweek Champions League victory against Napoli to advance to the last 16.

The German manager will be thrilled with the 2-1 victory against Spurs, who are establishing themselves as competitors for a spot in the top four after losing their previous two league games to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Salah served as the catalyst, converting Darwin Nunez’s cross with a precise left-foot finish after 11 minutes, and then calmly capitalizing on Eric Dier’s misdirected headed backpass to increase Liverpool’s lead five minutes before halftime.

Ivan Perisic struck the post twice before halftime, and Harry Kane pulled one back with 20 minutes left to go, ensuring that Spurs, playing without Son Heung-min, never lost the game. They attempted one of their famous comebacks from this season, but they were unable to finish it.

Klopp’s team now ranks eighth in the Premier League standings, 15 points behind league-leading Arsenal after the victory away from home. While Conte’s side continues to hold into fourth place with 26 points even with the defeat to the Reds.
