Terrorists have reportedly attacked an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Audu Madaki.

The personnel serving at Zone 12 Headquarters in Bauchi sustained a gunshot injury when the assailants attacked his convoy on Tuesday, killing one of his police guards, Naija News understands.

The incident, which happened between Barde and Jagindi area in Kaduna State yesterday at about 2:30 pm, was made public today by a source at the Zone 12 headquarters who spoke with The PUNCH.

The source said Madaki’s orderly was killed in the gunfire exchange while the AIG was bruised by a bullet.

The AIG is reportedly receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, while security has been beefed up around the Zone.

Another source told reporters that armed Police personnel had been drafted to the area to comb the bush in order to fish out the terrorists.

Several efforts to get a confirmation from the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Thomas Goni, were futile as he didn’t pick up nor return the call to his phone as of the time of filing this report.
