It was, however, confirmed in a statement on Monday that New Zealand will on Wednesday, send a C-130H Hercules aircraft and 50 personnel to Europe to aid Ukraine in their battle with Russia.

A statement made available by New Zealand government through it’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern said New Zealand’s support “is to assist the Ukraine Army to repel a brutal Russian invasion because peace in the region of Europe is essential for global stability.

“Such a blatant attack on a country’s sovereignty is a threat to all of us, and that’s why we too have a role to play.”

As well as the Mi-8 and Mi-24 combat helicopters, the targets hit on Thursday included Ukrainian military command posts and bases, as well as heavy artillery and rocket launchers in the Donbas, Konashenkov said.

In addition, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet had destroyed a training camp for “foreign mercenaries near Odesa,” he said.
