Residents of Randagi ward in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State are fleeing their houses days after bandits attacked the area.

Those who fled, mostly women, children, aged packed their belongings on 6,7, and 8th of February to take refuge with relatives at Birnin Gwari town and neighbouring Niger state.

Naija News had reported that the bandits invaded the village which led the men to send their women out of the town.

It was gathered that in an attempt to escape, an Ex- Correctional officer, Muhammadu Gagare, had his three children killed, two of his wives and four other children abducted by bandits on their way to Kaduna.

Gagare told Daily Trust that his abducted wives and children are still with the bandits who are now demanding for 20 million naira ransom days after they (Bandits) opened fire on the vehicle conveying his families to Kaduna.

A resident of Randagi, Aliyu Muktar ‎said he and his two wives, 13 children, and parents are presently taken refuge with his relatives in Birnin Gwari town after fleeing the community.

‎”We are about 20 people that fled because there was no food and people were just leaving the town for fear of being attack by bandits. Honestly, it was terrible,” he said.

‎Another resident, Shehu Muktar Randagi said that a community of about 40,000 including those from neighbouring Ukuru, Galma, and Wamba villages have deserted their homes.

He said the villages have been turned into ghost towns as people left their farms, foodstuffs and other belongings.

‎”As we speak 27 people mostly women and children are staying with me at my Birnin Gwari ‎residence. They don’t have a place to go and there is hunger everywhere,” he said.

He appealed for more deployment of security agencies in the area to encourage people to return to their homes.
