Not fewer than 21 suspected Boko Haram drug suppliers have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Naija News understands that the suspected suppliers were arrested after the NDLEA operatives busted the covert channel in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital,  through which they make supplies to the terrorists.

The Head of Public Affairs, NDLEA, John Achema, made the disclosure in an interview with the newsmen in Abuja, the Nigeria’s capital on Thursday, October 3.

Achema said the suspects were arrested during a sting operation by the anti-narcotic operatives of the agency.

He said that at least 229.6kg of hard drug and other psychotropic substances were recovered them.

Achema listed hard drugs recovered as -239.9kg of cannabis sativa, 59.7kg psychotropic substances and 274 bottles of codeine syrup.

According to the NDLEA’s head of public affairs, the leader of the gang confessed to suppling hard drugs to insurgents, and blamed unemployment for the nature of their job.

Achema said 153 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa (marijuana) was recovered from the kingpin.

“Nine of the suspects have been charged to court in Jalingo, while others are still under investigations,’’ he said.
