The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has accepted the reappointment of Dr Chris Ngige as the Minister of Labour and Employment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that the NLC had earlier warned Buhari against reappoiting Ngige as Minister of Labour.

However, the President on Wednesday rejected the Labour Union’s warning and reappointed the former Anambra governor.

Speaking with The Guardian, the General Secretary of the NLC, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, said the labour movement would not unnecessarily antagonise the Minister despite the history between the Congress and Ngige.

He said: “We felt that Dr Ngige should not be reappointed Minister, but now that Mr President has reappointed him, we have to accept that.

“We know it is the prerogative of the President to appoint whomsoever he wishes and that is respected.

“However, we will engage the Minister for the betterment of the working people of this country.”
