1. Senate Confirms All 43 Ministerial Nominees

The Nigeria Senate has confirmed the nomination of all the 43 ministerial nominees sent in by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The confirmation followed the conclusion of the confirmation hearing conducted by the upper chamber which took them five days.

2. Buhari Presents Documents At Presidential Election Tribunal

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, presented 26 documents as he opened his defence at the 2019 presidential election petition tribunal.

The documents presented by Buhari include copies of his academic credentials, comprising certified true copy (CTC) of the Confidential result sheet of the University of Cambridge, West Africa School Certificate 1961 for Provincial Secondary School, Katsina.

3. Lawan Announces Chairmen Of Senate Committees

Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday, 30th July announced the chairmen and vice-chairmen of Standing Committees of the 9th Senate.

He announced this during plenary before the Senators proceeded on their annual recess which saw them adjourn plenary till 24th of September, 2019.

4. Senate Issues Fresh Order To Gov Obaseki On Edo Assembly Crisis

The Senate on Tuesday ordered the governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki to issue a fresh proclamation for the inauguration of the state House of Assembly.

This follows the presentation of the report by its Adhoc committee on the crisis rocking the state house of assembly.

5. Supreme Court Fixes Date To Hear Atiku’s INEC Server Claim

The Supreme Court has fixed August 20, 2019, to hear an application filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party and its Presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s rejection of their request to access the INEC “central server”.

Naija News recalls that the former Vice President and his party had prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to grant them access to inspect the central server allegedly used by INEC to transmit results during the 2019 general elections.

6. Supreme Court Sacks APC National Assembly Member For Forgery

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, sacked Mustapha Usman, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Yola South/Yola North/Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State.

Naija News reports Usman represents his constituency in the House on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

7. Senate adjourns plenary till September 24

The Nigeria Senate on Tuesday embarked on their annual vacation after screening ministerial nominees sent to them by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News recalls that President Buhari had sent a list of 43 nominees for Senate confirmation.

8. Fresh Report Says 2019 Election In Nigeria Not Fair And Credible

The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in its report on the 2019 general election in Nigeria has said the election can’t be categorized as free and fair.

This was disclosed at the media launch of its 2019 Nigeria General Election Report on Tuesday, 30th July.

9. FG Officially Bans IMN Activities Nationwide

The federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has officially proscribed the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) led by Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

Furthermore, all protests by the IMN group has been banned.

This was made public by Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of police at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

10. Buhari Invites Abba Kyari As Witness

Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari on Tuesday mounted the witness box to testify as President Muhammadu Buhari’s third witness.

Naija News understands that Kyari mounted the witness box in his defence in the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
