Buhari Begins Defence At Election Tribunal

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, presented 26 documents as he opened his defence at the 2019 presidential election petition tribunal.

The documents presented by Buhari include copies of his academic credentials, comprising certified true copy (CTC) of the Confidential result sheet of the University of Cambridge, West Africa School Certificate 1961 for Provincial Secondary School, Katsina.

Naija News recalls Buhari is listed as the second respondent in the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging his (Buhari) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) election victory in the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Buhari has also called his first witness in the tribunal.

The first witness, Major General Paul Chabir Tarfa, disclosed that he was a mate with the President in the Nigeria Army and that they were all enlisted on April 16, 1962.

He added that they were enlisted upon passing the required examination and that they were taught all the courses they attended in the English language.

Under cross-examination by the lawyer to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yunus Usman (SAN) the witness revealed that they were not requested to submit their certificates to the Nigeria Army.

Usman asked “You submitted all your school certificates to the Nigerian Army when you were enlisted?”

to which the witness replied: “There was nothing of such.”
