2023: APC Inaugurates Screening Committees Today

Report reaching Naija News suggests that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Babayo Gamawa, has passed away.

Naija News understands that Gamawa passed away in the late hours of Friday, June 6 in Bauchi after a brief illness.

Spokesman to the deceased chieftain, Isa Gadau, said that Gamawa confirmed the report in a statement obtained by Naija News on Friday.

“He complained of slight stomach ache and was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was admitted and later passed away.

“I am now heading to his house,” Gadau said in his statement.

Gamawa is married with children.

However, his burial arrangement is yet to be announced by his family.

The death of the politician comes after he defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prior to the 2019 general elections.

It would be recalled that Gamawa was in 2011 elected Senator under the platform of the PDP in the 7th National Assembly; where he served as the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation and a member of the Land Transport Committee.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1966, and attended the University of Jos, where he obtained a National Certificate in Purchasing and Supply.
