Atiku Believes Kano Will Support PDP
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, has promised to restore the lost glory of Kano as the hub of commerce, industry and agriculture.
He made the pledge while addressing a huge crowd that gathered at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano State on Sunday for his presidential rally.
Atiku said, “Vote for the PDP. If you vote the PDP, I promise that I will restore Kano’s lost glory. The wealth of Kano is in its trade and commerce; the wealth of Kano is in its agriculture. I make this solemn pledge today to revive all these sectors which have been killed.
“I also promise to ease (issues around) pilgrimage to the holy land. Please remember, vote the PDP from top to bottom, bottom to top. God bless you.”
Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is believed to be the PDP’s major asset in Kano due to his Kwankwasiya movement, which is touted in some quarters as the strongest political movement in the northern part of the country.
Atiku who was accompanied on the visit by Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Director-General of the Atiku campaign team; a former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus among others and had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
