New Colleague Of Governor Ortom In PDP Gives Reasons Why The Governor Does Not deserve A Second Term

Freshly decamped Benue Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has attracted an opposition against his re-election ambition in his new party,  Peoples Democratic Party.,

Recall that the Governor had decamped from the All Progressive Congress to the PDP last week, after Benue youths prevented him from attending an APC reconciliation meeting.

A governorship aspirant, Dr. Stephen Hwande under the PDP, said Ortom has not justified the confidence reposed on him by the electorate in 2015.

“Ortom has not performed. He is a failure and does not deserve another tenure,” Hwande told newsmen today in Makurdi.

The Consultant Gynaecologist,  who reeled out reasons why Ortom will not get a second term said “Ortom has nothing to show for the massive debts he will be leaving behind in 2019,” , adding that the Governor had plunged the state backward into an impoverished state.

The aspirant said he was in the race to “redeem the image of my immediate community, Nongov, where Ortom hails from”.

He said that the rural communities were worse hit by Ortom’s non-performance, regretting that it was still impossible to connect one rural community with another because of lack of access roads.

“There are no health facilities to cater for the health needs of our rural dwellers which leads to high rates of maternal and child mortality.

“Children still attend classes in thatched huts, while water supply is generally zero. We cannot continue like this,” he said.

Efforts to contact the Chief Secretary to Ortom, Mr Terver Akase on this allegations proved abortive, while other senior government officials refused to respond.
