Recongnise Deserving Nigerians During Their Lifetime – Ahmed

Dr Wale Ahmed, the Secretary, All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, while reacting to the June 12 declaration as Democracy Day by President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that June 12 is a better date than May 29 that had always been recognized.

While having an interview on Sunday in Calabar, Ahmed took the chance to plead with President Buhari, to recognise deserving Nigerians in their lifetimes, like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who he stated fought for the enthronement of democracy.

He said, “This action does justice to our collective sense of contemporary democratic history in Nigeria by recognising the painful and bloody sacrifice of the multitude that died and many who lost loved ones, their means of livelihood as well as those who had their careers aborted as a result of the event to enthrone democracy through the June 12 struggle.

“I have always believed that one day, a leader with a deep sense of justice and high sense of responsibility and fairness would give adequate recognition to the watershed which June 12 represents in Nigeria’s political and democratic experience.
