Buhari’s Decision Is Fulfillment Of Dream – Tinubu

Former Senator and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has applauded the decision and courage of President Muhammadu Buhari in declaring June 12 as the Democracy Day, he described the decision as “the fulfillment of a dream”.

In statement released by Tinubu, he stated that the president’s decision is a step to correcting the wrongs of the past, he further stated that the step shows that the country was ready to accept history.

He said “Along with all democratic and fair-minded Nigerians, I welcome the news that June 12 will replace May 29 as Democracy Day. I too applaud President Buhari for making this courageous and rightful decision.

“This is good news for democracy and a proud moment for Nigeria. While impossible to go back in time and change the past, we must do our utmost to correct the wrongs of the past. This is what President Buhari has done by this decision.

“He has shown all Nigerians and the world that we have the moral fortitude to objectively face our history, learn from it and improve our society by virtue of this learning.

“The designation of June 12 as Democracy Day is the fulfillment of the dream and efforts of many of us. With this fulfillment comes a civic responsibility, it must guide our politics and how we govern ourselves.”

He also took time out to plead with Nigerians to continuously dedicate themselves to the freedom and rights as well as the duties that democracy bestowed on them.

Tinubu added that the GCFR honour conferred on Moshood Abiola served as an acknowledgement that he won the 1993 presidential election.

He further said that June 12 symbolised the struggles and sacrifices made by Nigerians to establish democracy as our way of national governance.
