62-Year-Old Herbalist Arrested For Raping A Minor

Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 62-year-old man, Godwin Sanda for allegedly raping a minor in Adamawa state.

The herbalist, who is currently cooling his heels in a police cell was alleged to have raped a 14-year-old girl with mental disorder.

The suspect who lives in Zangun community in Numan Local Government Area, of Adamawa state was arrested by the police on the 23rd July 2022 for the alleged offence following a report against him by the parent of the girl.

The command, in a statement by its public relations officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, made available to newsmen on Sunday, said “the suspect raped the minor that was brought to him for treatment”.

According to police, the survivor, who was suffering from mental disorder, was rushed to the suspect for possible medication, and the man advised her mother who brought her to return home pending time she will recover.

SP Nguroje, said it was as a result of the mother’s absence for a period of five (5) days that the suspect used the opportunity and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

“After raping her, according to him, the survivor escaped from his premises and returned to her parent’s house as a result of which her parents reported the matter to the police in Numan.”

“The suspect is undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following the order from the office of Commissioner of Police, CP S. K Akande,” SP Nguroje added.

The command, however, advised the public especially parents to be wary of questionable characters within their neighbourhoods and always seek for expert’s opinion before making a decision, especially on issues concerning health generally.
