Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: COAS Yahaya Issues Directive To Troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya has reacted to the deadly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train by bandit terrorists yesterday.

Naija News had reported earlier that bandit terrorists attacked the train on Monday night with 970 passengers on board.

The train which took off around 6 pm from the Idu train station at the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja was attacked 30 minutes to Rigasa train station in Kaduna.

A former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Wakkala was involved in the horror attack.

The politician sustained a gunshot injury and is currently recuperating in the hospital.

A former media aide to Wakkala, Yusuf Idris disclosed that the former Deputy Governor was shot in the leg and is currently receiving treatment in a medical facility in Kaduna.

He said, β€œHe is responding to treatment very well. He is answering phone calls in his bed. I spoke to him and several other people spoke to him also. There is no cause for alarm.”

The incident also saw a female medical doctor identified as Chinelo killed while several others sustained degrees of gun wounds.

Taking to his Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon, President Muhammadu Buhari Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad confirmed that the COAS has ordered security agencies to go after the perpetrators and rescue kidnapped victims unconditionally.

Ahmad tweeted: “The Chief of Army Staff has ordered the troops of the Nigerian Army to liaise with other security agencies to intensify their search and rescue operations to ensure that the kidnapped victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train are rescued unconditionally.”
