Geography and Borders

Kaduna is centrally located in Northern Nigeria. It is bordered by Kano, Katsina, and Zamata States to the north, Plateau and Bauchi States to the east, Nasarawa State and the FCT to the south, and Niger State to the west.

Governance: From 1967 to Date

As the old capital of the Northern Region, Kaduna has been led by some of Nigeria’s most influential figures:

  • Abba Kyari (1967–1975): The first Military Governor.
  • Balarabe Musa (1979–1981): The first civilian governor, known for his radical socialist reforms.
  • Ahmed Makarfi (1999–2007): Focused on “Triple R” (Reconciliation, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction).
