Six Almajiri Pupils Kidnaped As Terrorists Launch Fresh Attack In Kaduna

Suspected terrorists have abducted six Almajiri pupils during an attack on Unguwar Gere community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to SaharaReporters, sources confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the children were returning from a nearby farm, despite a swift response by soldiers and local residents to repel the attackers.

According to local sources, the terrorists invaded the community at about 6:30 p.m. and intercepted the pupils just as they were approaching the village after working on a nearby farm.

The children were reportedly close to entering the community when the gunmen struck and whisked them away.

The abducted pupils were identified as Abdul Mali Malam, Al Amin Biyar, Abdurrahman Sama Ila, Jamilu Malam, Usumanu Bilya and Abdul Ganiyu Samaila.

Following the attack, residents of neighbouring communities, with the support of soldiers stationed at the Supa Camp in Kuyallo, mobilised and confronted the terrorists in a bid to rescue the victims.

The joint operation reportedly forced the attackers to retreat from the community.

However, despite being repelled, the gunmen escaped into the forest with the six abducted Almajiri pupils.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Efforts to rescue the abducted children were, however, said to be ongoing.

Naija News reports that the latest incident comes just days after another deadly attack in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, where armed bandits reportedly killed an unspecified number of farmers and abducted nearly 20 others.

According to local sources, the attack occurred on Monday morning at about 11 a.m. in Layin Danauta village.

The attackers were said to have stormed farmlands north of the village and opened fire on farmers in what witnesses described as a guerrilla-style assault.

A source in Birnin Gwari said the assailants abducted about 22 people, including seven women and approximately 15 men, although the figures were still preliminary.

Several other farmers reportedly sustained injuries during the attack, while residents and local volunteers continued search-and-rescue efforts late into the night.
