Four Killed In Osun, Ogun Truck Crashes

Truck accidents during the last weekend has lead to the death of at least four persons in Osun and Ogun states, Naija News understands.

It was gathered that in Osun State, a motorcyclist and his passenger were killed in a road crash in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to Dayo Adesina, an eyewitness in Oke Baale area, the incident happened on Saturday after a motorcyclist was trying to overtake a truck heading in the same direction with him.

He noted that the motorcycle and the truck were heading towards Ibokun road, “but a Korope (commercial minibus) was heading towards Oke-Baale. The motorcyclist was trying to overtake the truck when the Korope suddenly emerged and faced him.

“The motorcyclist, in fear of the impending accident, lost control and fell under the truck. The truck ran over them, killing the passenger and the rider on the spot.”

Meanwhile, in Ogun State, two persons were also crushed to death by a truck after it reportedly veered off the road and rammed into a parked Toyota Camry on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Two persons escaped death in the cars but with severe injuries Naija News learnt.

The accident is said to have happened at the Magboro Bus Stop in the early hours of Sunday.

PUNCH Metro reported that the driver of a Howo truck, with number plate, EPE 198 XV, was chasing another vehicle, which damaged the truck’s mirror.

The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the tragedy.

He said, “The Howo truck used in carrying gas was outbound Lagos (leaving Lagos), when in an attempt to catch up with another vehicle which damaged its side mirror, suddenly veered off the road. The driver, having lost control due to speeding, rammed into a Camry car parked by the roadside, with the two occupants in it losing their lives in the process.”
