Geography and Borders

Ogun State shares an international border with the Republic of Benin to the west. It is bordered by Lagos State to the south, Oyo and Osun States to the north, and Ondo State to the east.

Governance: From 1976 to Date

Ogun has produced more Nigerian heads of state than any other state and has a rich history of intellectual leadership:

  • Saidu Ayodele Balogun (1976–1978): The first Military Governor.
  • Bisi Onabanjo (1979–1983): The first Executive Governor.
