12,000 Families To Benefit From Cash Assistance In Kano State

About 12,100 families and small business owners in Kano State will benefit from COVID-19 subsidy in the state, according to The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative Muhammad Yahaya.

Mr Yahaya said the donation was made to help the people of the state. Speaking at a meeting at the Kano State Government House on Monday, Yahaya said the donation was sponsored by UNDP, WFP and the EU.

The launch coincides with the launch of the SDG program in Kano, which will provide 200 hospital beds with mattresses, pillows, 2 cars and 20,000 face masks and other health facilities.

According to him, “The UNDP through the ONE UN COVID-19 Basket Fund is supporting communities deeply impacted by COVID-19 to cushion the effect of the pandemic through stepped-up action to protect the very vulnerable,” He thanked Governor Ganduje for his support to the less fortunate.

“It is gratifying to note that, 9,600 families and 2 500 SMEs will benefit from this programme, with N460 million in Kano state alone. As part of the total sum N13b earmarked for the country,” he said.

He added, “Over 300, 000 households in 484 Wards, across the 44 local governments in the state, benefited from the palliatives given to members of the public.”
