Kidnapped hospital Chief Medical Director in Ebonyi, two others freed.

The Chief Medical Director, CMD, Emeka Onwe Ogah, of the Federal Teaching hospital in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, who was abducted on Thursday by gunmen has regained freedom.

It would be recalled that the Director and one of his administrative officers were kidnapped around Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

Naija News gathered that the Director of Administration in the Hospital, Christopher Ogbu, and the Director of Finance, Sunday Ugama, who were kidnapped alongside Ogah, were also freed in the early hours of Sunday.

It was learnt that the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, Emmanuel Uzor, confirmed their release, but details of how they were freed were not disclosed.

Uzor said: “The true situation is that the victims have been released. I don’t know if there was ransom or not, but all I know is that the governor ensured their safe release. He was worried about their kidnap and urged security agents to assist to ensure they were released.

“The governor has absolute confidence in the police and other security agents.”

The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association in the state, Austin Ikwudinma, commended the state government as well as security agencies for their swift intervention in the case.

“We want to specially thank the government of Ebonyi State for keeping to its promise. We are happy they did what they promised for the release of our colleagues. We want to thank people who showed concern during this trying period,” he said.
