Geography and Borders

Ebonyi is located in the South-East zone. It shares borders with Benue State to the north, Cross River State to the east, Abia State to the south, and Enugu State to the west.

Governance: From 1996 to Date

Since its creation by General Sani Abacha, Ebonyi has seen steady leadership:

  • Walter Feghabo (1996–1998): The first Military Administrator.
  • Sam Egwu (1999–2007): Focused on free basic education and human capital.
  • Martin Elechi (2007–2015): Known for bridge building and rural integration.
  • Dave Umahi (2015–2023): Credited with a massive transformation of Abakaliki through flyovers and concrete roads.
