Arresting Father Of PFIPC ‘Fake DG’ Is Abuse Of Power – Atiku’s Aide

The Media Adviser to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has condemned the arrest of the father of the Director General of the Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, in connection with the ongoing investigation into forgery linked to the purported council.

Naija News learnt that police operatives on Monday stormed the Ogbomoso residence of Adeyemi’s family and arrested his father,  alongside a family friend who visited the family.

Confirming the arrest to Punch, Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana (SAN), said the arrest left Adeniyi’s aged mother in shock.

Reacting to the development, Paul Ibe, in a post via his 𝕏 handle, said there is no provision in the country’s laws for substituted arrest, an arrest of a family member, friend or associate of a suspect with no connection whatsoever to the alleged crime.

He said, “Arresting the father of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man at centre of the #GbajaGate scandal is absolute nonsense and stands condemned. There is no provision in our laws for substituted arrest, an arrest of a family member, friend or associate of a suspect with no connection whatsoever to the alleged crime.

“What has the father of the man the Presidency claims to be a “phantom” DG and agency got to do with it? It is an overreach, an abuse of power. Why did they allow Prince Adeyemi to sneak away and are now fledgling their powers by arresting the father in his stead. Trust the Tinubu-led APC administration, they’re always majoring in minors. The poor man should be released immediately!”
