Trump To Join Infantino For 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Trophy Presentation

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final and join him in presenting the trophy to the winning team.

The final is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, where Infantino said both men will watch the showpiece match together before taking part in the presentation ceremony.

Speaking to Fox & Friends, Infantino highlighted his close working relationship with Trump and credited the American president with playing a significant role in helping FIFA stage the tournament in the United States.

“We will be together with the president [Trump] enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino told Fox & Friends.

“We are together all the time.”

Infantino said FIFA’s plans for the expanded World Cup benefited from Trump’s direct involvement and support, adding that cooperation between football’s governing body and the U.S. administration had been crucial throughout his current term as FIFA president.

The decision for Trump and Infantino to jointly hand over the trophy comes less than a year after a memorable moment at the FIFA Club World Cup final involving the U.S. president.

Following Chelsea’s win over Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey, Trump joined the trophy presentation and handed the silverware to Chelsea captain Reece James. His prolonged stay on the podium during the celebrations attracted widespread attention, with players appearing surprised as he remained alongside the team.

While recent FIFA World Cup trophies have typically been presented by the FIFA president, there is precedent for heads of state taking part in the ceremony, with political leaders having presented the World Cup trophy on several occasions in the tournament’s history.
