Bauchi Gov Mohammed Mourns Ex-Deputy Governor Audu Katagum

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed profound grief over the death of former Deputy Governor of the state and Wazirin Katagum, Audu Sule Katagum described his passing as a huge loss to Bauchi State.

Naija News reported earlier that Katagum reportedly died in the early hours of Monday at Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja.

In a condolence message, Mohammed said the death of the elder statesman had created a significant vacuum in both the political and traditional institutions of the state.

The governor described the late Katagum as a loyal, patriotic and dedicated public servant who devoted his life to the service of humanity with humility, integrity and dignity.

Mohammed recalled Katagum’s contributions during his tenure as Deputy Governor under the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, noting that he played a critical role in promoting stability and development in the state.

He also praised the deceased for his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, under the current administration.

According to the governor, Katagum demonstrated exceptional commitment to good governance and the advancement of Bauchi State throughout his years in public service.

“His contributions to governance and public service will remain a reference point for generations to come,” the governor stated.

Beyond politics and public administration, Mohammed said the late Wazirin Katagum distinguished himself as an accomplished architectural engineer whose expertise contributed immensely to the physical and infrastructural development of the state.

The governor noted that through his professionalism, experience and commitment to excellence, Katagum played a vital role in promoting sustainable development and improving the state’s built environment.

He said the projects and legacies left behind by the deceased would continue to benefit future generations.

“Through his knowledge, experience and dedication to excellence, he contributed significantly to the growth and development of Bauchi State and left enduring legacies that will stand the test of time,” Mohammed said.

The governor further extolled the late traditional title holder for his wisdom, integrity and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Bauchi State.

According to him, Katagum’s counsel, leadership qualities and devotion to duty earned him admiration and respect across political, traditional and social circles.

Mohammed said the deceased remained a bridge-builder whose influence transcended partisan interests and whose contributions helped strengthen peace and cohesion in the state.

The governor urged the immediate family, friends, associates, the Katagum Emirate and the people of Bauchi State to find comfort in the exemplary life and remarkable achievements of the late statesman.

He said Katagum’s legacy of selfless service, leadership and dedication to the public good would remain indelible in the history of the state.

Mohammed extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, associates and all those affected by the loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the departed, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

“The people of Bauchi State will continue to remember him for his invaluable contributions to the growth, unity and development of the state,” the governor added.
