Rice Warns Arsenal Must Hit Top Gear Against PSG, Merson Urges Alvarez Move
Declan Rice has said Arsenal must be at their very best if they are to defeat Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s Champions League final in Budapest.
The Premier League champions will face the defending European champions at the Puskás Aréna after seeing off Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals.
Naija News reports that PSG booked their place in the final by beating Bayern Munich.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Rice admitted Arsenal would need to raise their level against the French giants.
“PSG are a really good side. [We] played them over two legs last year. It could have gone either way, so speaking about it now, may the best team win,” Rice told UEFA.
“You need to be on your A game to beat PSG. You need that fuel in your belly from the first whistle, that you are going to win this final.
“It’s the biggest competition in football. Champions League final, it gets no bigger than that.”
Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has urged the club to strengthen further this summer despite winning the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City.
Merson believes Arsenal should target Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid and add another midfielder to the squad.
“I would get a centre forward this summer, I would go for Julian Alvarez,” Merson said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.
“I am a big fan. If they could get him, I would. I still think they probably need another midfield player as well.”
