Real Madrid demonstrated their dominance in Europe with a clinical 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, securing a 5-1 aggregate victory and advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals.

City’s hopes of a historic comeback from a three-goal first-leg deficit faded early when captain Bernardo Silva was sent off for handling on the goal line. Vinicius Junior converted the resulting penalty to put the tie beyond reach.

Erling Haaland briefly restored parity before half-time, but Madrid remained in control and Vinicius struck again in stoppage time to secure the win. The result marks the fourth time in five seasons that Madrid have eliminated City from the competition.

Goals from Goncalo Inacio, Pedro Goncalves and Luis Suarez levelled the tie before Maxi Araujo and Rafael Nel sealed the turnaround in extra time, ending the Norwegian side’s impressive run in the competition.
