Italian second-tier club, Como have named former Barcelona, Chelsea, and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas as their interim manager.

This means that Cesc Fabregas, 36, is a direct replacement for coach Moreno Longo who was sacked from the role last week.

Before Fabregas retired from professional football, the Spanish football icon played 17 games for the Serie B team last season.

Immediately after he retired from professional football, he became the coach of Como youth and reserve teams.

The retired Spain international will make his professional managerial debut on November 25 at home against Feralpisalo, days after the November international break.

Como has recorded 21 points in their first 12 games of the season and are currently ranked sixth in the table.

Cesc Fabregas started his football journey in 1997 when he joined Barcelona’s La Masia academy at the age of 10. Between 2004 and 2011, Fabregas played 212 Premier League games at Arsenal.

He spent three years with Barcelona before joining Chelsea in 2014 to play in the Premier League, where he made just under 200 appearances.

After that, he played for Monaco for three and a half years, making 68 appearances, but injuries restricted his game time.

Cesc Fabregas recorded 110 appearances for Spain’s national team and helped the country win the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Following his departure from Monaco in August 2022, Fabregas joined Como, where he co-owned shares with Thierry Henry, his former teammate at Barcelona and Arsenal.

Dennis Wise, a former midfielder for Chelsea and England, joined Como in May 2019 as a technical consultant before becoming the club’s president.
