Tinubu’s Aide Reacts As U.S Court Denies Request To Compel FBI, Others To Release Files On Principal

Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, has hailed a court ruling which denied a request for an urgent release of President Bola Tinubu’s confidential records compiled by American law enforcement authorities.

An American transparency activist, Aaron Greenspan, had filed a motion to order the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other U.S. bodies to immediately turn over records they scheduled for release before the end of October.

Greenspan filed the emergency request after Tinubu deployed lawyers to fight against the release, saying it would violate his privacy, among other statutory rights.

He said Tinubu was trying to stall the release of the documents to foreclose any impact the disclosures may have on the ongoing election dispute at the Nigerian Supreme Court.

But in a ruling on Monday, Judge Beryl Howell denied the hearing to compel the immediate release of the documents, saying that no hearing to determine the merits of the motion is necessary.

Reacting to the development in a post via his X handle on Tuesday, Onanuga said the conspirators have failed once again.

He claimed that Greenspan was an agent of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and a Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin.

Onanuga said their attempt to stampede the U.S. court to order the release of President Tinubu’s FBI record has failed.

He wrote: “Aaron Greenspan, the American agent and contractor of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and David Hundeyin lost a bid to stampede the Washington D.C court to order the release of President Tinubu’s FBI record. The conspirators have failed once again.”
