No fewer than eight people have been killed in recent attacks by terrorists in Katsina and Kaduna State communities.

Naija News reports that the assailants have been on a rampage in the states, Katsina particularly.

It was gathered that terrorists on Sunday night, attacked a community in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina, killing at least five people and injuring scores.

Naija News learnt that the insurgents also kidnapped five residents in the Katsina invasion.

Confirming the recent attack, the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, said, “The incident occurred at 10 p.m. We have already commenced an investigation; our men are on top of the situation there.”

Residents revealed that the terrorists stormed the town in their numbers and started shooting from the outskirts of the communities.

The casualties would have been more but for the efforts of the security operatives and the vigilantes,” The PUNCH quoted a resident saying.

The Commissioner for Internal Security in Katsina State, Nasiru Muazu, described the incident as unfortunate, adding that the state government would continue to prioritise citizens’ safety.

He said, “The Danmusa incident was unfortunate. If not for the efforts of our community corps and other security operatives who repelled the terrorists, the number of casualties would have been higher. We have even reinforced security in the council.”

In a similar event, a terrorist attack killed three people in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State in a recent invasion.

A local hunter, identified as Bashir Shekarau; and two commercial drivers, Mustapha Adamu and Malam Muktar were the victims in the Kaduna attack, Naija News learnt.

Hunters were attacked on Wednesday. One of them was killed by the bandits. And by Saturday two commercial drivers returning to Birnin-Gwari were also shot and killed. Another driver was also hit by the bandits’ bullets. In all, three people were killed between Wednesday and Saturday,” a resident told the media.

The police spokesman in Kaduna, Mansir Hassan, when contacted, told journalists that he was in a programme and could not speak further on the incident.
