APC Hails FG Over Move To Stop Tax-evading Politicians From Running For Offices

The Katsina State All Progressives Congress (APC) Working Committee has disclosed the prescribed nomination fees for aspirants contesting for the positions of local government chairman and councillors in the upcoming elections.

At a press briefing held at the Katsina Government House Banquet Hall, the State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Bala Abu Musawa, officially confirmed that the nomination fee for the local government chairmanship position is N5 million.

Furthermore, while addressing reporters after a meeting involving the working committee, state executives, as well as chairpersons and secretaries of the party from the 34 local governments, Musawa revealed that aspiring councillors would be mandated to pay a fee of N1.5 million for their nomination forms.

He stressed the necessity of making all payments for the nomination forms directly into the party’s account, and he also revealed that the sale of nomination forms would begin from May 1st to May 4th, 2024.

The Katsina APC Deputy Chairman also unveiled that completed forms must be returned to the State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC, by Thursday, May 9, 2024.

According to the election timetable provided by SIEC, the APC deputy chairman emphasized that primary elections for council chairmen are set for Saturday, May 18, with councillorship primaries following on Wednesday.

Musawa urged all contestants to strictly adhere to the election guidelines, especially concerning electioneering campaigns.
